Importance of art in the society

The arts are what make us most human, most complete as people. According to the National Institutes of Health, developmental milestones around age three should include drawing a circle and beginning to use safety scissors.

Evidence of its effectiveness in reducing student dropout, raising student attendance, developing better team players, fostering a love for learning, improving greater student dignity, enhancing student creativity, and producing a more prepared citizen for the workplace for tomorrow can be found documented in studies held in many varied settings, from school campuses, to corporate America.

Around age four, children may be able to draw a square and begin cutting straight lines with scissors.

We have to recognise the huge value of arts and culture to society

People were smiling and crying at the exhibit. Study in the arts is integral to our society. First, traditional all-male colleges like Bowdoin began admitting women. The inherent value of culture, its contribution to society, its symbiotic relationship with education and, yes, its economic power but in that order … this is what we call the holistic case for public support of arts and culture.

How are Art and Craft different?

For example Albert Einstein studied piano and violin as a child and, when he was an adult, music helped him think things through. The student dramatic group, Masque and Gown, was founded inand has sponsored a student-written one-act playwriting contest for more than 70 years; and the male a cappella group, the Meddiebempsters, has been around since I was the first faculty member not interested in voice.

Even toddlers know how to operate a smart phone or tablet, which means that even before they can read, kids are taking in visual information. It is the first time the College has included the arts among its core requirements separate from the other humanities.

Not until the last 15 minutes of the 2-hour class does the clear image emerge: Students need to be thinkers, possess people skills, be problem-solvers, demonstrate creativity, and work as a member of a team. They are great for projects, gifts, or just for fun! Actors have Masque and Gown, and dance enthusiasts have their own clubs: I consider myself one of the least artistically talented people on the planet, but I love the arts!

Enhancing Community Engagement Art can be a powerful way to bring communities together. The fine arts enhance perceptual and cognitive skills.
